Chat Revenue: how the chat's sales are counted
Chat Revenue shows the orders customers placed after chatting with you. Open it in Zuzana under More → Insights → Chat Revenue.
The three groups
Every order that followed a chat lands in one of three groups, by how strong the evidence is:
- Sales driven by chat: the chat put the product in the cart, and the customer bought it.
- Sales assisted by chat: the chat showed the product, and the customer added it to the cart themselves and bought it.
- Shoppers who chatted first: the customer chatted and then bought, but none of the products the chat showed.
We never add the three groups together. Each one is a different claim, and the last one is a correlation, not a sale the chat made.
How an order is linked to a chat
- On Shopify, we read your orders from Shopify and link each one to a chat by the customer's cart, or by their email address if they gave it in the chat.
- On any other shop, the chat sees the order on your order confirmation page, in the browser the customer chatted in. The order must be placed within 7 days of the chat.
Products are matched by the product id in the product feed Zuzana reads. That is how we know the customer bought a product the chat showed or added.
When the numbers update
Chat Revenue updates every 15 minutes. Sales driven and assisted by chat count from the day the chat started reporting the products it shows, so they build up from then on, not backwards.
What you need to set up
- On Shopify: read Chat Revenue on Shopify. There is nothing to build.
- On any other shop: your developer follows Report orders to Zuzana, then Let the chat add products to the cart.
Chat Revenue on Shopify
On Shopify, Chat Revenue fills in by itself once your store is connected and the chat is on your store.
Report orders to Zuzana
If your shop isn't on Shopify, tell Zuzana about each order from your order confirmation page, so Chat Revenue can link it to the chat.
Let the chat add products to the cart
Give the chat's product cards an Add to cart button by handing the chat your shop's own add-to-cart code.
