How to setup your domain
Step 1: Add Your Domain
- In the left-hand sidebar, navigate to the General settings section and click on Domains.
- Click the + Add Domain button in the top right corner.
- Enter your domain name (e.g., yourdomain.com) and save.

Step 2: Access Your DNS Records
Once the domain is added, it will appear in your list with a "Pending Verification" status.
- Locate your domain in the list.
- Click on the DNS Records icon (the document symbol) to open the configuration modal.

Step 3: Update Your DNS Provider
You will need to log in to your domain registrar (like Cloudflare, GoDaddy, or Namecheap) and add the records the modal lists: DKIM, SPF and DMARC, plus two MAIL FROM records if you set a MAIL FROM subdomain. Only DKIM is open when the modal loads; click SPF and DMARC to expand them. Each record shows a Record Type, a Host, a Full name and a Record Value, each with a copy button. Enter the Host exactly as shown, because most providers add your domain themselves. Use the Full name only if your provider asks for the fully qualified name.
1. DKIM Record (Required)
This cryptographically signs your emails to prove they haven't been tampered with.
- Type: TXT
- Host/Name: zuzana._domainkey
Note: Some registrars automatically append your domain, so you may only need to enter zuzana._domainkey.
- Value: Copy the long string starting with v=DKIM1; k=rsa; p=... from the Zuzana modal.

2. SPF Record (Recommended)
This authorizes our mail servers to send on behalf of your domain.
- Type: TXT
- Host/Name: @ (your domain itself)
- Value: v=spf1 include:spf.zuzana.ai ~all
A domain can only have one SPF record. If you already have one, do not add a second: add include:spf.zuzana.ai to the existing record, before the ~all or -all part.
3. DMARC Record (Recommended)
Gmail and Yahoo require it for bulk senders. It tells receivers to check that DKIM and SPF line up with your domain.
- Type: TXT
- Host/Name: _dmarc
- Value: v=DMARC1; p=none;
You can start with p=none and make the policy stricter later. If your domain already has a DMARC record, keep it rather than adding a second one.
4. MAIL FROM Records (Only With a MAIL FROM Subdomain)
The modal shows these two records only after you set a MAIL FROM subdomain with Subdomain in the ⋮ menu next to your domain. A subdomain such as mail.yourdomain.com makes the bounce address match your own domain, which improves DMARC alignment. Without one, the Mail from column says "Default (amazonses.com)" and you skip this part.
- MAIL FROM: Type MX, Host your subdomain (for example mail), Value copied from the modal (it starts with 10 feedback-smtp.).
- MAIL FROM SPF: Type TXT, the same Host, Value v=spf1 include:spf.zuzana.ai ~all
Step 4: Verify the Connection
After adding the records to your DNS provider, go back to the Zuzana Domains page.
- Click Check Verification next to your domain.
- Status: It will change to a green Verified badge once the DKIM record is detected. SPF and DMARC are not part of this check.
- Mail from: If you set a MAIL FROM subdomain, this column shows Active once its records are detected.
Quick Tip: DNS changes can take anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours to "propagate" (spread across the internet). If it doesn't verify immediately, grab a coffee and try again in an hour!
